Art Cologne 2024 Sarah Bogner

ART COLOGNE 2024
SOLO PRESENTATION SARAH BOGNER

NOVEMBER 7 – 10
BOOTH A218

Livie Gallery is pleased to participate at Art Cologne for the second time with a solo presentation of new paintings by Sarah Bogner (*1980 Munich, Germany, lives and works in Vienna, Austria). We are delighted to collaborate on the booth with Sperling Munich gallery, who is presenting works by Andrew Gilbert (*1980 Edinburgh, Scotland lives and works in Berlin).

The figures in Sarah Bogner’s paintings play: with us, with each other. In the picture or in the entire room. The pictorial formulas appear familiar, the pink bodies assume poses together that seem to be familiar to us from centuries-old portraits and present themselves to the viewer in a wide variety of moods. Not only the titles, which evoke ancient myths, but also the view through the eyes of the figure into the open canvas drive us into the exploration of the cipher. At first glance, a very modern work reveals itself, the pink-colored horse figures suggest a proximity to the cartoon through the formally uniform and recurring characters. Thus the viewer encounters a work of sublime seriousness and mischief, in which the tension increases with every detail discovered.
