Liste Art Fair Basel unites younger galleries with a remarkable programme like hardly any other art fair. The 30th edition comprises 99 exhibitors from 31 countries. It might be worth taking a closer look at these nine presentations.

The animal, the dog, is subject to man. Trained for entertainment, an interchangeable body, a temporary carrier of potential for the luck factor. At any rate, it has to serve as such on the racetrack. The questionable spectacle is the subject of the video installation ‘Sixes’ by Roman Selim Khereddine, who has already made the hierarchical relationships between humans and animals the subject of his work in the past. His presentation at the booth of Livie Gallery, Zurich is lined with prints for which Khereddine used the cover of the Italian edition of Iwan P. Pavlov’s ‘Conditioned Reflexes’. This fundamental work of behavioural research – isolated, repeated, reduced – opens up a wider context for reflecting on learned obedience and social conditioning.
