Stop and Go

14.02.2026 to 26.04.2026
Kunstverein Heilbronn, Germany

We are delighted to announce today’s opening of Marius Lüscher’s solo exhibition at Kunstverein Heilbronn, Germany.

Abstract painting and its forms, colors, and symbols are at the heart of Marius Lüscher’s work (born in 1974, lives and works in Bern). Large brushstrokes, fine lines, and areas of color, whether painted or sprayed, come together in his paintings in complex and intricate ways. The shapes are reminiscent neither of landscapes nor of human figures. There are references to abstract painting, such as that of Fernand Léger, in Marius Lüscher’s work. The painter describes his work against the backdrop of historical abstraction and post–war abstraction as ‘abstraction of abstraction’.

Marius Lüscher’s work is essentially painting as action, yet it is anything but expressive spontaneity; rather, it is the result of a deliberate and considered process on the canvas. Using his photographic alter ego, Freddy Perez, the artist explores cities such as Los Angeles, Tokyo, and New York, capturing impressions of colors and shapes with his camera. The photos serve primarily as a source of inspiration for colors and spatial constellations.

Photographs and paintings are exhibited together, highlighting the interplay between reality and abstract painting.
